Depression and Low Self Esteem
Many people who experience the symptoms of depression might begin to wonder if there is something wrong with them. Although you might feel alone in your struggle against depressive moods, the reality is that many people experience these moods from time to time. In fact, it is estimated that 1 in every 4 people experience significantly depressed mood at some time in their life. So remember, you are not alone.
In our sessions we are going to focus on discovering and challenging your unhelpful assumptions and beliefs and developing helpful and balanced thoughts. Since depression often makes people feel lethargic and unmotivated, we are going to work on identifying and changing those aspects of your behaviour that may perpetuate or worsen the depression. Some behavioural strategies may include goal setting, activity scheduling, social skills training, and structured problem solving.
We will use a strengths-based approach to help improve your overall self-worth and identity.
